"Lotus Notes Sucks" "I hate Lotus Notes"

Occasionally I hear this from someone and on further inspection find that they are using the really old versions.

I recently worked with a company running Domino R5 and R5 clients only for mail. Running Notes for mail only isn't really taking advantage of Notes/Domino to begin with but that's another story. But by running R5 mail, they are getting a very poor user experience compared to what they would get on Domino 7. Also, this company had maintained their licensing so they were fully entititled to the upgrades (so it wasn't a question of money per se).

For example, one problem is that many of the things that made the email client "suck" have been much improved in subsequent versions. So please upgrade as soon as possible.

Granted, you could argue that if it didn't suck to begin with, we wouldn't be having these complaints. But my point is that people should say "Lotus Notes email sucked" (past tense) unless they are keeping up with upgrades.

Not sure I agree that using Notes/Domino for mail only isn't utilizing Notes/Domino functionality. Since r4.5 you get the benefit of replication along with web access to the mail file.
