Ordered a product from macmall.com


Previously, I had a good experience with macmall.com. This time, I put my office address on the order but forgot the suite #. Big mistake and now they are making me pay.

I went to the order status page on macmall and it has a link to UPS tracking. However, they have the link labeled as "Masked for your Protection 1 of 1". So I called UPS this morning to tell them the suite # but because I couldn't provide the tracking #, UPS wouldn't update the address.

What I was hoping is that UPS would come into the building and look at the list of companies because the suite # is listed in the lobby. No such luck. They didn't do it. They put an exception in as follows: "A CORRECT SUITE NUMBER IS NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION".

So I call macmall.com and speak to Andy x7839. He tells me he can't help me and they are keeping the tracking # a secret "for my protection". He needs to transfer me to customer service. I ask, "Will I sit on hold for that for awhile?" He says, "No I will transfer you to a live person."

Click, now I'm listening to a ringing phone. No answer.

I feel very protected right now that I can't just call UPS and give them the tracking # and tell them the suite #. Thank you macmall for protecting me.

So before "Andy" transferred me to a ringing phone, he told me to call in and click extension 4 to get customer service. So that's what I'm doing now. Now I get to listen to the hold music instead of just a ringing line.

While I was on with Andy I asked if I could just cancel the order but he said no.

More music....

Finally on with Jasper x7801. Tell him the situation. Give him the order #. He seems helpful. A lot of typing on his end. Asked to put me on hold but I said no. He said he will update the carrier (UPS) with the info but it will take another 24 hrs to process. I say ok.

Cancelling goemerchant part 5

The email came into notes account at 3:36 pm and the faxes came at 3:36 pm and 3:39 pm. So looks like about a full 1/2 hr after they sent.

So docs came to gmail at 3:31 pm so got them all filled out and faxed back at 3:53 pm. Not very optimistic about the cancellation given that they go home at 4. Sheesh. Nightmare.

Still haven't received in both mail systems. Call back in. Ask if they can fax me the forms.

They will now try faxing the forms.

3:05. Still no email from Janice. Calling back. "She's busy with someone else at the moment." "Ok, can I speak to Gera please?", I say.

Give that I have a 4 pm deadline, I guess they aren't too worried about it.

So spoke to the receptionist some more. She said that Gera and Janice are discussing sending the forms. I say, "Why not just post the forms online so I don't even need to call in. I could just download the forms and send them in." She says, "She is just the receptionist so she doesn't know the procedures."

So I ask, "Is there anyone higher on the foodchain I can talk to about this?" and she puts me on hold to find out. And the on hold music is horrible! It's some kind of slow jazz but really horrible and the same song over and over.

So now the worst case scenario, "Janice sent them to your email address." So I'm checking postini and my email and of course they aren't there. So then I give them a gmail address and they said they will "re-send them to that address".

Trying to cancel goemerchant.com

Ok, so I guess this blog is turning into a complaint center for trying to cancel accounts. Fun to vent.

I called yesterday to cancel my goemerchant account. Going to use paypal now. That is going well. Everything is working over there. So I went on the goemerchant chat last night and asked about cancelling. "You need to call xxx-xxx-xxxx to cancel."

So today I call the number to cancel. "Linda is out for the afternoon."

Meanwhile, Elavon sent me a threatening letter that if I didn't send them some compliance documentation by 12/15, they would charge me $135. So I called Elavon to cancel the merchant account. Spoke to Jeannie. She says they can't cancel the account unless goemerchant tells them to. She will make a note in her account that I tried to cancel ahead of the $135 charge. I said, "Can you email me a copy of that note so I have documentation?" "We can't email", she says.

So then I call back to goemerchant and speak to Gera in sales. She says that Janice will send me a cancellation document that I need to get back quick because they leave at 4:00 pm (it's 2:55 now).

So I'll see what time Janice sends me the document.
