Cancelling replaytv

I like replaytv but now with fios dvr, don't need it anymore.

2:14 pm Claudia answered. She said she can help me cancel. Asked why etc. Told her using cable dvr.
2:17 Canceled. Gave me a confirmation #. Good deal. Nice service.

Cancelling comcast cable

10:52 am They are asking for the phone number where I have or want service. Not sure which one to type in.
10:53 am Wow, got a person. She is very nice. Tried to get me to stay. Debbie. I told her she has Verizon beat on customer service. It's just that their product is so compelling.
10:57 am She gave me the address to drop off converter box and her direct extension. Awesome service.

Cancelling packet8

When I got voip via packet8 in 2003, it was so great. Cheap and unlimited. Around $20. Now it's around $30 but I can't really blame them. It looks like a lot of govt fees.
10:28 am Spoke to customer service. When I said I wanted to cancel, she sent me to cancellation dept.
10:29 am Fabian answered. Nice guy. Offered me some options to stay and asked if I wanted to port the # which was nice. On hold now listening to music.
10:34 am He came back online said all canceled.
Great service. Thanks packet8. If I go back to voip, I will choose you over Vonage now.

So I sat home again waiting for Verizon Fios

Last week, guy told me that he would set up so someone would be at my house between 8 and 12.

At 9:00 am, I decide to call. They canceled my business internet service on Sunday (a day before they said they would) so now I can't get to the internet to grab their phone number.

So after some searching, I come up with it.
9:16 am Calling in.
9:22 am Got a guy on the phone. He says the data order has been converted but now he will have to re-setup the dispatch now that the business data was disconnected. I wasn't too happy with re-setup given that the previous guy told me I was first on the list for Monday.
9:30 am I tell him I only need data. I want to cancel the order for TV and phone. He puts me on hold. Music.
10:00 am I drove all the way to work and was still on hold. Finally got someone. She is offering me a $100 amex card to keep my business. Ironic because if the service was there I was a willing customer.
10:06 am But then my cell starting to die. Ugh. Asked her to call me on another number. Got disconnected. I guess she isn't calling me back. So calling back on the main number.
10:15 Called back in. Got someone new on the phone. She has to transfer me to cancellation group. I told her I had to wait 1/2 hr for the previous woman. She said she will try to get me to someone quickly. She also told me that on Monday, the person can't call people back if they drop off the call. So now listening to music again.
10:19 am Music....
10:28 am Music....
10:30 am Calling in on another phone to see which one gets through first.
10:40 am She says I can't just cancel the TV and phone part of the order, I have to cancel the whole order. She is going to get some assistance with this. What a nightmare.
10:40 am Now they have me over a barrel actually because by having to switch to Comcast internet is going to be annoying too.
10:41 am She came back on and now I'm asking for the 6 month discount she said originally.
10:43 am She's giving me a $30 discount for 6 months starting with the second bill.

Verizon fios from business to residential

12:24 pm Today, Verizon called me because they have this order delayed because I have business fios and they can't finish the residential fios until that is removed. I told him I've been calling like crazy to get it worked out. He said he can see both sides (business & residential) so he could figure out what I've been telling all the people on the phone the last week.
So now he's putting me on hold to research how to kill the business fios to replace with residential.
12:30 pm He came back on the phone to tell me he is explaining the situation to the business fios person.
12:35 pm Apparently it's a long conversation. Still sitting on hold.
12:37 pm Finally the guy comes back. Says he will call me back when he gets someone.
12:42 pm Darren called me back and says he can squeeze me in for this Monday.
12:45 pm I give this Darren guy credit. He seems to know what he's doing. He said for me to call the night before and that morning to confirm someone coming out so I don't sit home from work.

Transferring business fios to residential

3:40 pm I gave up on the whole tv, phone thing for now. So just going to downgrade business fios to residential since I already moved my fixed IP server offsite.
3:45 pm Spoke to someone in business. She says I have to speak to residential first to get residential enabled to cancel business fios.
3:52 pm Sitting on hold. I guess I'll try to call the residential directly. She put me in the wait all day hold queue.
3:53 pm While I was looking for phone #, Mr. Webb answered. He says we need to do a migration from business to residential. I said that's what I thought but business told me they can't do that. You have to get residential first and then cancel business.
3:57 pm Crap. I lost the phone connection. It's getting late in the day. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

Residential Fios TV saga continues

Ok, Fios was scheduled to come between 8am and 12pm. It's not 12:26 pm and no sign of them. No call. I am working from home today to deal with it. Luckily, my time isn't very valuable.

Called the number on the email they sent detailing the installation confirmation. That was the wrong place so now transferred to another place and now listening to music.

12:27 pm - "Due to heavy call volume...." More music.

This morning I called to cancel the business internet service tomorrow. So now I am worried that they won't make it out today and I won't have internet service. Maybe I can just switch to residential internet and skip the tv/phone due to unreliability. At least Comcast answers their phone.

12:30 pm - I think I would rather hear nothing than this music.

12:36 pm - Someone finally picked up. "What phone number are you calling about?" I told her my phone number and then she said she would transfer me to FIOS person.

12:37 pm - Speaking to some guy. He said he will transfer me to the people who will tell me what time the technician will arrive.

12:40 pm - Speaking to George. He's looking it up by order number.

12:42 pm - He tells me the order has to be rescheduled because of the f***ing business line already on there. I added the f***ing part. I tell him I knew that was going to be an issue which is why I was trying to call to discuss it with someone but couldn't get through because their phone system sucks and George replies, "Yes that can be a challenge."

12:44 pm - George says they knew about this on 1/8 and thus delayed the installation date. Of course no one tells me that and in fact I got an email on 1/10 with subject "Awesome News! Your Verizon FiOS Installation is Just Two Days Away!"

12:47 pm - Listening to music while George checks on something.

What really sucks is I already put in the order to cancel the business service tomorrow believing that the residential install would happen today so now I will have to wade through press 1 for this, press 2 for that to undo the cancellation.

12:56 pm - George is transferring me to the business Fios dept to undo my cancellation. Also meanwhile, I wasn't updating my replaytv lately in anticipation of new dvr.

12:59 pm - Speaking to Joe about undoing my cancellation.

1:07 pm - Music....Apparently, undoing a cancellation takes a lot of time to accomplish.

1:13 pm - Joe said the order to cancel has been cancelled.

Cancelling Verizon Fios business

4:12 pm Listening to music on hold...
On Monday, I'm getting a Fios package for residential so removing Fios for business today. Hoping it will be a smooth transition. I love Fios, much more reliable than cable. Finally moving to Fios for TV, cable, phone combo.
4:15 pm - Not sure how much longer I can wait on hold. Music is horrible and no updates about how long I should wait.
4:17 pm - Still waiting. I guess I'll call back.
4:18 pm - I called back and this time typed in a phone number. When I said "I don't have one" before, I sat on hold forever.
4:20 pm - Robot tells me I can reach someone in 3 minutes (25 calls ahead of me).
4:21 pm - 8 calls ahead of me.
4:25 pm - Speaking to representative. I'm sure he's going to tell me I have to wait to get business services.
4:28 pm - He's having a hard time finding my account.
4:29 pm - Now he says he only deals with home phone services. He is going to check with his manager. "We don't do Fios for businesses. You have to call local business services." So now I'm asking what that number is.
4:31 pm - Calling the local number. Same robot asking for the 10 digit phone number. Saying, "I don't have one." Big risk.
4:34 pm - Phone is ringing but no one is picking up.
4:36 pm - Ok digging up the bill to call the # on there.
4:38 pm - Speaking to the robot again. Back to music.
4:40 pm - "Your call cannot be completed at this time. Please try your call again later." Hangup.
4:41 pm - Ok this time I'm not going to say anything and see what happens. Maybe the robot will transfer me to a human being.
4:43 pm - The robot won't let me through. Trying to answer the robot with a different set of answers to see if I can get through.
4:44 pm - He said he's transferring me to billing services. This is amazing. Good thing I quit my job to make this change. Makes you love small companies.
4:45 pm - "All consultants are busy helping other customers. Please stay on the line..." Music...
4:47 pm - I give up. I guess I will just speak to the guy on Monday about cancelling the existing account.

Expedia credit card

Booking travel on expedia, I noticed I could save $50 by getting an expedia credit card. So I clicked and applied and was approved.

Went back to the itinerary and purchased using the temporary card number but no $50 discount in sight.

So now sitting on hold trying to get to expedia to ask about it. Listening to music. "Many travelers" are ahead of me according to the robot voice.

The robot asked for the itinerary number but the woman who answered the call also asked for that number. I will never understand that.

She says that citi will process the refund.
